…………..LIFE BEYOND BIOTECH

The name of this new group on the trekker’s circuit finds its origin from its members who formed it. I myself OMKAR JUVEKAR, KAUSTUBH PADWAL, VIRAJ TAVSALKAR, SUYOG LOHAR and ABHIJIT BIRJE completed our graduation from Department Of Biotechnology, Ramnarain Ruia College in 2010. ‘HYBRID’ being a typical term used in Biotechnology (meaning fusion of 2 different species) became the name of our trekkers group. But with respect to trekking the term establishes identity of our group.

HYBRID stands for

Heights – that’s our aim which keeps on increasing with every trek.

Youth -- that’s how our group is, full of energy and enthusiasm.

Bindaas -- that speaks for our attitude towards life and trekking.

Refresh -- that’s how you feel after every trek.

Intensity -- Both the qualities which every member of the group possesses Determination while trekking

Here we would also like to thank NILESH GALA, our senior, for imbibing in us the passion and hunger for trekking. He was our mentor, tutor when we went to our first trek in our FY to Rajgad-Torna, under his guidance. From then onwards, the tradition of organizing a monsoon trek every year for the students of Dept. Of Biotechnology, Ruia College is being successfully taken forward.

However after graduation, we all thought of going one step ahead and giving ourselves an identity on the trekker’s circuit. This gave birth to HYBRID trekkers. It gives me great pleasure to tell you that the group successfully completed its first trek to Naneghat on 15^th August 2010. I am sure our co trekkers and freshers were fully satisfied with our performance.

We intend to organize many more treks in future and not restrict ourselves to Biotechnology students only. The aim is to develop the same passion and hunger for trekking in others. We are hopeful for same response as and when we announce our next trek.

Everyone should reach Ruia College premises by 5.45a.m.(SHARP.)

Reach back to college around 8.30 p.m.

1) A pair of dry clothes.

2) A pair of shoes. COMPULSORY.

3) A bottle of water and snacks.

4) Wind Sheater.

5) Personal medicines if any.

6) Glucon D, painkiller, crocin, band aids. (If required).

Ø It should be noted that the trek organized is purely a private affair and that neither Department Of Biotechnology nor Ramnarain Ruia College should be responsible for any mishaps.

Ø Camera and mobile phones or any other personal belongings should be brought at your own risks and taken care off.

I have read all the information regarding the Trek to Karnala on 26^th June 2011 and I am in full agreement with the same. I am allowing my son/daughter to go for the trek.
